Bio-Baumwolle<\/p><\/div>\n

Bio-Baumwolle ist ein gesch\u00fctzter Begriff<\/strong> und darf nur dann verwendet werden, wenn die Baumwolle nach den Vorschriften des \u00f6kologischen Landbaus angebaut und geerntet wird. Besonderer Wert wird auf den Verzicht von chemischen Pestiziden<\/a> und D\u00fcngemitteln gelegt.<\/p>\n

Was zeichnet Bio-Baumwolle aus?<\/h2>\n

Bio-Baumwolle wird nicht ganzj\u00e4hrlich auf demselben Boden angebaut, sondern abwechselnd mit anderen Pflanzenarten<\/strong>. So wird die nat\u00fcrliche Bodenfruchtbarkeit erhalten und gleichzeitig reduziert dieses Prozedere die Anf\u00e4lligkeit der Baumwolle f\u00fcr Krankheiten und Sch\u00e4dlinge.<\/p>\n

Ein weiteres Mittel zur Sch\u00e4dlingsbek\u00e4mpfung ist die gleichzeitige Aussaat anderer Pflanzen in und um die Baumwolle. In Westafrika pflanzen Bio-Bauern etwa Sonnenblumen um ihre Baumwollfelder, da diese Sch\u00e4dlinge wie Baumwollkapselk\u00e4fer anlocken. So kann verhindert werden, dass die K\u00e4fer auf die Baumwollpflanzen \u00fcbergehen.<\/p>\n

Die Bio-Baumwolle wird zudem von Hand geerntet<\/strong>, um chemische Entlaubungsmittel zu vermeiden wie sie etwa in den USA h\u00e4ufig eingesetzt werden. Die wichtigste Auszeichnung von Bio-Baumwolle ist der Verzicht auf chemische Pestizide, Insektizide und chemischen D\u00fcnger. Denn circa ein Viertel des globalen Insektizid-Marktes f\u00e4llt auf herk\u00f6mmliche Baumwolle<\/a>. Die Nutzung von Mist und Kompost als nat\u00fcrlicher D\u00fcnger ist eine Bio-Alternative zu den k\u00fcnstlichen Varianten, die den Boden und die Baumwolle sch\u00e4digen. Durch nat\u00fcrliche D\u00fcngemittel erh\u00f6ht sich der Humusanteil des Bodens, der in diesem Zustand mehr Wasser und CO2 speichern kann.<\/p>\n

Zertifizierte Bio-Baumwolle<\/h2>\n

Baumwolle darf nur dann als Bio bezeichnet werden, wenn die Richtlinien des \u00f6kologischen Landbaus<\/strong> eingehalten werden. Gleiches gilt bei den Bezeichnungen \u00d6ko oder kbA (kontrolliert biologischer Anbau)<\/a>. Betriebe und Produkte, die mit diesen Begriffen ausgezeichnet wurden, werden mindestens einmal im Jahr von einem unabh\u00e4ngigen Pr\u00fcfinstitut besucht und es wird kontrolliert, ob die Vorschriften und Verbote eingehalten werden.<\/p>\n

Bio-Betriebe m\u00fcssen ihre Produktion zug\u00e4nglich machen und den Warenfluss offenlegen, sodass die Pr\u00fcfer genaue Einblicke erhalten. In Entwicklungsl\u00e4ndern kontrollieren sich Bio-Bauern in Kleingruppen dauerhaft untereinander. Zus\u00e4tzlich begeben sich Kontrolleure regelm\u00e4\u00dfig vor Ort, um auch den Anbau und die Ernte der Bio-Baumwolle oder anderer Bio-Produkte zu pr\u00fcfen.<\/p>\n

Baumwolle ist extrem einfach zu verarbeiten und hat eine hohe Lebensdauer, was zur Folge hat, dass die Textilbranche in vielen Bereichen<\/strong> auf Baumwolle zur\u00fcckgreift. Zudem ist Baumwolle sehr hautsympathisch und leicht zu pflegen.
